Overview

Igor is a player character I made for a DnD campaign with some friends that we never ended up having the time to start. He was meant to start with one level of Barbarian, and then immediately multiclass into Bard. The ill-advised-ness of that multiclass is the whole point.

The premise was that he was found as an egg and raised by a human to be a gladiator in an arena. He considers the human his father and was only ever taught to value glory gained through violence. One day, he would form a connection with a bard who's demeanor profoundly affects him and his worldview. After that fateful encounter, he starts to rejects everything he used to be, and throws himself into a new way of life, hoping that he can become a completely different person through that radical process.

With this character, I wanted to explore the ideas around what happens when you dedicate yourself to doing something new out of repulsion for what you used to be, and emulate someone's way of life entirely without acknowledging that there might have been some good in who you were.

Who knows where his actual character arc would've taken him, though! I think he's a simple enough concept that I could reuse the idea in a fitting campaign some time in the future.
