Hey! First editorial of the blog... Makes sense to talk about the genesis of this project, no?
For years now I've started to despise the use of social media. It would only make me more miserable. This year, I quit cold turkey Twitter because I couldn't stand how disgusting the platform was becoming. The only places where you can find me now are on my Tumblr blog, on Discord if we're friends, and now on this website!
So, I've started to want a space on the Internet that I could call mine, one that I could make into whatever I want. I heard a few years ago of the "Reclaim the Internet" and other associated movements, trying to keep the "Web 2.0" alive. I never got the chance to have my own website back then, as I was a little too young for that sort of thing, and social media started taking over as the place where people hung out by the time I was old enough to be interested. I've also always romanticized the idea of being a journalist with a blog, so I'm making my silly teenage dreams come true by adopting a semi-serious tone and presentation.
I'm still trying to decide what kind of content I want to display on here, but I'd love to ideally make this a place where I could try sort of whatever and see what sticks. So far, I set up categories to publish some original writing, post profiles for original characters, a space for editorials so I can post some thinkpieces when they come to me, and a space for reviews of stuff I'll watch and read. I've set up a space I call "TTRPG", because I'd love to have something on this blog regarding that, but I'm not exactly sure what to make of it yet. Maybe it could be a space for whenever I homebrew DnD stuff, or to publish or muse about campaigns I write.
A note of information: This website and all the content within it is intended for me and me alone. This is a personal project, not an attempt to generate and curate an audience. Make of that what you will, though of course I'll appreciate anyone who appreciates my work! Also, I plan to have the most recent editorial always be posted on the website's main page. They will be archived when I write a new one, and posted in the "Editorials" category.
That's it for now, bye-bye, and I'll see you in the next one!
